Microsoft has released the first official version ( 8.0.6001.18702 )  of Internet Explorer 8 which is available for download at this site:

 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx

 You can check your version number by going to help > About Internet Explorer.  The first official version number for Internet Explorer 8 is ( 8.0.6001.18702 )  

No matter what Web browser you prefer , IE 8 , Firefox, Opera, Apple Safari, or Google Chrome, it's good practice to download the latest version which includes security updates among others.
