The most useful free software will be upgrading your web browser to the most recent version. Pasefika.com like many other sites will run best with the latest versions of web browsers, plugins (such as Flash), and add-ons.
Remember, beta means test version and current version often has no special name added just numbers which indicate the version of the software. All web browsers have strengths and weaknesses and now there are a few to choose from besides Internet Explorer.
Firefox is a popular browser due to its stability and browser add-ons which share its roots from Netscape. The worst thing I seen from Firefox was how the browser rendered text on the webpage. I have not even noticed this in there’s latest version but if it does occur, a display setting in windows can fix this.
Safari the default browser on Mac and is now available for both Mac and PC. Although not as popular with PC users it interesting to note that it's based on the open source project Webkit. Webkit is also the basis for googles new browser Google Chrome
Opera is not as popular as the others but I found it to have a mobile version which you can download on phones such as Blackberry. Also noted is the opera speed dial which shows 9 thumbnails of pages you choose when you open the browser. Firefox later came out with add-ons that have the same functionality. Opera does one of the best jobs rendering html pages cross platform (Mac or PC) For example I mean the viewer can visit a number of sites and have good compatibility.
Google Chrome has a lot going for it it’s still in beta meaning it’s a test version. It’s layout is clean and simple, google fans should take to it immediately but with brand recognition that Goolge has, it should gain popularity quickly. After a few use it will have an opera like thumbnail view of most recently viewed pages and book marks list though they can’t be edited. This makes the front page as “relevant” as everything else google. I have been starting to use it for google based sites, I know there are already security warnings about others but this is expected from a beta version.
Internet Explorer 8 is in beta 2 meaning it’s a test version. It is however a step in the right direction especially since they are now starting to utilize web standards. Web browsers along with the sites that you visit store information about you and your computer. Newer versions of Internet Explorer and Google Chrome have privacy settings that delete your internet cache quicker if you have an older browser you can also delete these manually from the options menus. Time will tell whether it’s too little too late or if people will keep using the most popular browser.

Nothing new since newspapers, radio and t.v. the internet is just another media for advertising, except the information tied into relevant ads is becoming more and more precise and most accurate because it's entered by you or someone you know via the internet. Online forms allow you to enter data, social and free websites allow you to share it, online databases store it, owners of the databases may sell or share data to affiliates, who in turn may sell or use a data mining company that sorts and analyses the data which then is used to provide you with relevant advertisements. If this system works properly, by filling an online form for a favorite retailer you would soon get email advertisements and notice that the interactive online advertising on your big name web sites may even have ads from your favorite retailer or their competitor.
The challenge is that this system is complex with a lot of personal data, and just as there is a ton of money in advertising there’s a lot of money in false advertising and stealing.
It’s everyone’s responsibility to try to protect themselves and others by:
1. knowing the personal information you put online may also be public
2. using reputable, secure sites for online transactions
3. taking the time to review the Settings of your Free Accounts and social websites to adjust the privacy settings

Google has been King in internet search engines for a while even webkit (shared with Apple's safari) as a foundation for the Google chrome web browser, and Google docs as an alternative option to Microsoft Office and Open Office.
Microsoft is striking back with a few tricks up their sleeves starting with their a new search engine, Bing at bing.com.
Although it may not be enough to top Google search, it's definitely worth a look. Argueably gaining more of the sptlight than Microsoft's Bing search engine is Microsoft's Xbox 360 announcement at the E3 convention for their answer to the Nintendo Wii motion control called Project Natal.
With these projects along with Windows 7 scheduled for release this year, Microsoft is still making an effort to be competitive in technology against big brands such as Google, and Nintendo.

Here is are interesting videos with a perspective on Privacy of Facebook user content.Facebook Privacy Video 1Facebook Privacy Video 2 Social websites such as Myspace, Bebo and Face book have an international user base including many Pacific Islanders who share, socialize and keep in touch with others through personal pages, uploaded images as well as text messages and content. It should go without saying that all users must be cautious of the content (text and pictures included) they place on any website. This video brings up the issue of content usage and ownership by these websites. At the user level you may applaud that an uploaded images is displayed on the website to share and a thumbnail of that image may be seen on your "friends" but with this comes ownership.personal pictures, and their rights are a big issue in matters of privacy. For example if an adult user want to share a picture of their child's first birthday.once that adult uploads this picture there the rights, usage and ownership of that image may be surrendered to the social website depending on the account privacy settings and more importantly, the web site's privacy policy.
