Survivor Samoa Season Premiere was an entertaining season opener for the dramatic, team based game show.  Set in Sāmoa, the shots on location are impressive with natrual beauty.  Athough refered to as an Island by Survivor Samoa, there is actually no island by the name of Samoa, it is the name for the island group inhabited by the people of Samoa for a minimum estimate of 4,000 years.  After historical and political division the islands of Samoa are now known as Samoa (the independent nation formerly known as Western Samoa) and American Samoa.  Survivor Samoa is reported to be film on location in the Island of Upolu.  Sāmoa and Galu are mis-pronounced throughout the program, the scenery and filming in Samoa is nothing short of positive for the Samoan people and economy which caters to tourism.

As written here in an online article from the Wall Street Journal news of Samoa's Driving Shift is gaining international attention.

Although a relatively small and independent nation made up from the “western” islands of Samoa, the change from driving on the right side of the road to the left side of the road is making waves throughout the Pacific and beyond.  Listed in the article are other nations that have made a similar shift in driving and most recent is Ghana in 1974.  It should be expected that such a change is has supporters for change as well as tradition with regards to driving on the roads.  As September 7th nears more news coverage should be expected which cause also be great promotions for tourism in Samoa depending on how the media edits the footage of the Islands of Samoa and the Samoan people.

Wahoo or Pa'ala and Yellow Fin Tuna or Asiasi are among those packed at the tuna canneries of Samoa. As the closing of the tuna cannery in Samoa will have a huge economic impact on Samoa, this also comes at a  time of increase awareness.  Actor Ted Danson, known most for his TV roles in shows like "Cheers" is taking an active role in increased Ocean Life and environmental awareness as seen in this video from CNN.  He is also promoting a video for which we narrates a documentary called "The End of the Line" seen on this website.

As Samoa's tuna cannery's may be reaching the end of the line, Samoa and others can use this as a turning point for fish conservation before it truely becomes the End of the line for Tuna in Samoa.

As noted here on April 17th 1900 the U.S. was the date the U.S. formally raised the first American flag over the politically divided islands east of 171 degrees west longitude known as "Eastern Samoa".  With the U.S. naval intrests in Pago Pago Harbor Samoan Ali'i (High Chiefs) signatures on the Deeds of cession, the result was U.S. government rule over the U.S. territory, American Samoa administered by the U.S. Navy by Governor Benjamin Franklin Tilley.  The years following have been an example of maintaining the traditional culture, language, land, and Matai (chief) system, intergrated with terriorial rule.  American Samoa's Flag day is filled with celebrations from local villages as well as villages from Samoa (Independent State of Samoa, formally Western Samoa), and include guest from all over the Pacific.  American Samoa Flag Day festivals are also celebrated in American cities with Samoan communities.
