Haʻamonga ʻa Maui


The Haʻamonga ʻa Maui is also know as the Trilithon because of it's post and lintel shape made up of 3 very large stones weighing over 35 tons. It is 16 feet high and 19 feet wide. Its construction is attributed to Tuiatui at around 1200 AD.

The Haʻamonga ʻa Maui like other ancient structures is in alignment with the stars there are notches which are believed by Tui Tonga Taufaʻahau Tupo to be accurate markers for the calendar and stars.
