Artist Notes:
Kīlauea, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi January 14, 2024
This watercolor painting was based on a “Sunflower” (helianthus annuus) is painted from a view of the plant growing in the yard.
On my first attempt to grow sunflowers I was able to successfully grow them from seed.
My favorite was the called a pro cut sunflower.
I liked the large area made up of many small flower and the relatively smaller pedals surrounding it.
I chose these flowers I grew as the reference for several Sunflower paintings in various art media including this painting in watercolor.
