As written in this article, the United States Geological Service has recently released high resolution satellite photos of Artic Ice.  These images once required a security clearance to view are now viewable to all with internet access.  Not only is this set of images taken over ten years valuable to scientists but allow everyone to see with incredible detailed proof of the cracking and loss of ice in the artic.

Although all coastal areas of the world are effected by this, Pacific Islands like Tuvalu comprised of mostly atolls, are bracing themselves and begining to take this scientific data seriously.
